JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Housing Compliance Specialist
MAJOR FUNCTION AND PURPOSE
Employees in this position are responsible for eligibility certifications according to Washington State Housing Finance Commission Tax Credit Compliance requirements and Housing Authority policies as well as various other clerical functions.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Employees in this position are given some discretion, within the scope of policy and regulations, in the routine performance of their duties; supervision and guidance are received from the Executive Director.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Employees in this position normally do not supervise any staff.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conducts annual and interim recertifications of rental assistance program participants including assembling verified information, conducting interviews with participants, entering data into the computer system, and preparing housing assistance payment change forms. Determines verifications needed to accurately evaluate eligibility; prepares and submits verification requests to appropriate sources.
2. Selects the next qualified tenant from the waitlist, prepares and sign the lease.
3. Housing Compliance Specialist for Tax Credit property and all project-based vouchers
for Tax Credit.
4. Under the direction of the Executive Director interprets the policies and procedures of
the Housing Authority to resolve tenant and landlord complaints and problems.
5. Performs other tasks as directed.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Ability to work independently and without direct supervision.
2. Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in an atmosphere
of frequent interruptions.
3. Ability to learn, follow and apply complex regulations and procedures.
4. Knowledge of spelling and vocabulary, as well as correct use of grammar, punctuation
and letter format a must.
5. Ability to deal with the public and other employees with courtesy, tact and good
judgment.
6. Ability to write clearly and legibly.
7. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and compute percentages.
8. Ability to type and use a computer keyboard.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATES
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Two years experience in a computerized setting working directly with customers/clients and the public. Three years’ experience with property management, preferably Tax Credit properties.
3. Valid Washington Statedriver's license.
4. Knowledge of Fair Housing Law and Reasonable Accommodations.

- Familiarity with property management software such as Lindsey
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
