Job Description
Position Summary:
The Housing Admissions Supervisor oversees the application and intake process for housing programs at the Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport. This role ensures that all applicants are evaluated in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines. The Admissions Supervisor will lead a team of admissions staff, ensure efficient processing of applications, and provide customer service to applicants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Admissions Process: Manage the daily operations of the admissions team, ensuring timely processing of applications for public housing, Section 8, and other housing assistance programs.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure compliance with HUD regulations, Fair Housing laws, and agency policies.
- Staff Management: Train, supervise, and evaluate admissions staff to ensure a high level of performance and customer service.
- Eligibility Determination: Oversee the eligibility determination process, including background checks, income verification, and other required assessments.
- Application Review: Review completed applications to ensure accuracy and compliance with agency guidelines.
- Reporting: Prepare reports on application status, waitlists, and other key metrics as needed by the Housing Programs Director.
- Customer Service: Provide guidance and assistance to applicants throughout the application process, responding to inquiries and resolving issues.
- Policy Development: Assist in developing and updating admissions policies and procedures in line with changes in regulations or organizational goals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as property management and case management, to ensure a smooth transition for eligible applicants into housing programs.
- Community Outreach: Participate in outreach activities to inform the community about available housing programs and services.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in housing programs, social services, or a related field. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of HUD regulations and housing eligibility criteria.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse population and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and housing management software.
