Southwest Housing Compliance Corporation (SHCC) is looking for a detail-oriented and professional candidate to join our Compliance Department as a Compliance Specialist. SHCC has served the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as high-performing Contract Administrator for over 24 years. In this role, we are proud to serve over 800 properties in the states of Texas and Arkansas to ensure they provide healthy and safe housing and that rent subsidies are accurately calculated in accordance with HUD's mission.
What you will do in this position:
- Perform comprehensive Management and Occupancy Reviews (MORs) of properties to evaluate owner compliance with their Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) contract and other HUD requirements/guidance; travel to property locations is required approximately 25% of the time.
- Prepare reports within required deadlines that outline deficiencies, discrepancies, and other areas of noncompliance, and provide required corrective actions along with source references.
- Communicate professionally with Owners, Agents and site staff while conducting MOR site visits, and follow up with clear and concise communications via phone and email at other times.
- Create accurate electronic files to document reports, findings and owner/agent corrective action.
- Perform timely and accurate data entry in SHCC and HUD systems.
- Meet all internal SHCC deadlines to ensure HUD deadlines are met.

Qualifications:
- At least two years of college or four or more years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; bachelor's degree in business, public administration, or social sciences preferred.
- Knowledge of property management, Section 8 project-based housing, low-income tax credit housing or federal housing programs compliance oversight
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing is critical.
- A timed writing sample will be administered as part of the interview process.
