Job Overview
The Housing Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting individuals and families in securing stable housing. Duties

• Conduct assessments to determine client eligibility for housing programs, including Section 8 and LIHTC.
• Provide guidance on the application process for various housing assistance programs.
• Facilitate crisis intervention services for clients facing immediate housing challenges.
• Offer support and counseling related to addiction issues as they pertain to housing stability.
• Maintain accurate records using property management software such as Yardi or OneSite.
• Collaborate with social service agencies and community organizations to connect clients with additional resources.
• Educate clients about their rights under Fair Housing regulations.
• Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to empower clients in their housing search.
• Monitor client progress and provide ongoing support throughout the housing process.

Skills

• Strong understanding of Fair Housing regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience in crisis intervention and providing support to individuals facing housing instability.
• Knowledge of addiction counseling principles as they relate to housing challenges.
• Proficiency in property management software
• Familiarity with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) programs.
• Background in social work or related fields, demonstrating a commitment to helping vulnerable populations.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
