MIDDLE AND UPPER SCHOOL FRENCH TEACHER
JOB DESCRIPTION
Houston Academy is a premier independent, college preparatory school located in Dothan, AL.
Houston Academy is searching for an experienced and dedicated Middle and Upper School
French Teacher to join our team August 1, 2025. The goal of the Houston Academy World
Language Program is to provide students with a foreign language immersion experience that
will allow the student to obtain language fluency. The current position includes: a semester-
long language exploratory in the 6th grade (French, Spanish & Latin), French 1A (7th grade)
and French 1B (8th grade) and French II (9th grade).
The ideal applicant will possess the following:
- A degree in French or French Education or significant and/or measurable mastery of the
- Native to near-native French proficiency;
- Knowledge of basic Spanish and Latin;
- Experience teaching and/or a willingness to teach French in the target language;
- A strong commitment to students and their learning;
- Strong leadership skills;
- The personality traits of enthusiasm, creativity, imagination, and a strong desire/ability to
- An inspiring, innovative, and charismatic teaching style.
- Teach Middle and Upper School French and a language exploratory course;
- Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of
- Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with
- Select and obtain materials and supplies such as textbooks and electronic media;
- Participate in campus and community events;
- Participate in department activities and clubs to enrich foreign language department;
- Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and school leadership regarding student
- Engage in supervision duties and advisories; and
- Participate in campus and community events.
INFORMATION
Salary will be commensurate with degree level and teaching experience.
