UPPER SCHOOL MATHEMATICS TEACHER
JOB DESCRIPTION
Houston Academy is a premier independent, college preparatory school located in Dothan, AL.
Houston Academy is searching for an experienced and dedicated Upper School Mathematics
Teacher to join our team August 1, 2025.
The ideal applicant will possess the following:
- A master’s degree, preferably in Math or measurable mastery of the subject area.
- Strong leadership skills;
- Experience teaching and/or a willingness to teach a wide variety of Math courses,
potentially including Geometry, PreCalculus, Advanced Placement Statistics, and ACT
Math Preparation;
- A strong commitment to students and their learning;
- Ability to use and integrate technology within the classroom;
- The personality traits of enthusiasm, creativity, imagination, and a strong desire/ability to
- An inspiring, innovative, and charismatic teaching style.
- Teach five (5) Upper School Math courses and an elective class or study hall.
- Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of
- Perform professional development and keep abreast of developments in the field by
reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional
conferences;
- Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and school leadership regarding student
- Select and obtain materials and supplies such as textbooks and electronic media;
- Participate in campus and community events; and
- Sponsor an extracurricular activity.
INFORMATION
Salary will be commensurate with degree level and teaching experience.
