- Impactful Mentorship: Play a pivotal role in shaping the intellectual development of our most promising students.
- Research & Inquiry: Guide students through advanced research methodologies and foster a deep understanding of academic inquiry.
- Socratic Pedagogy: Utilize Socratic teaching methods to stimulate critical thinking and intellectual discourse.
- Interdisciplinary Connections: Develop and implement SEPP (Social, Economic, Political, and Philosophical) connections within the program, enriching students' understanding of complex issues.
- Program Development: Support the Executive Director of the Bush Center for Scholars and Leaders in the implementation and enhancement of the DSP program.
- Implement and instruct the second and third-year sections of the Distinguished Scholars Program.
- Develop and implement SEPP connections within the program curriculum.
- Utilize Socratic teaching methods and close reading methodologies to facilitate student learning.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to DSP scholars, fostering their academic and personal growth.
- Manage program database and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure the successful implementation of all program facets.
- Contribute to the life of the school outside the classroom.
- Serve as a strong spokesperson for the DSP program and Houston Christian High School.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Research or Humanities Subject Area (Advanced degree preferred).
- 3 years of classroom experience, preferably with gifted and talented students.
- Proficiency in Google Apps (Drive, Docs, Gmail).
- Excellent verbal, visual, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and presentation skills.
- A passion for teaching and inspiring students.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Houston Christian High School.
- Strong background in Socratic teaching, close reading methodology, and higher-order thinking paradigms.
- Demonstrated excellence in writing and research.
- Exceptional communication and relational skills.
