We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to fill the position of Deputy Auditor/Treasurer at the Houston County, MN.

 

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Elections and Property Transactions:
  •   Coordinate biennial November elections, annual township elections, and special elections.
  •   Maintain accurate voter records within the SVRS.
  •   Set up and maintain the Precinct Finder database.
  •   Ensure accuracy of ballots.
  •   Perform functions related to absentee balloting.
  •   Process real property transfers.
  •   Use Arc/GIS mapping software to draw property maps based on legal descriptions.
  •   Work with title company staff, attorneys, and members of the public to address concerns and resolve errors.
  •   Disseminate property information to all Land Use departments.
  •   Update the MNTax system to reflect all changes.
  • License Center Duties:
  •   Provide back-up to license center staff for motor vehicle registration and licensing, driver licensing, DNR vehicle registration, and wild game harvest licensing and registration.
  •   Review applications for registration of motor vehicles, boats, trailers, snowmobiles, bicycles, and motorcycles.
  •   Collect fees for licenses, excise tax, transfer, and titles.
  •   File required state reports.
  •   Verify required information for driver's licenses, work permit applications, and license reinstatements.
  •   Explain rules to applicants and determine what type of license is needed.
  •   Administer vision exams, photograph applicants.
  •   Collect proper fees.
  •   Process weekly reports for DNR licensing.
  •   Record transactions, receipt, and deposit money, issue checks, and reports to the state.
  •   Generate daily reports and balancing cash drawers.
  •   Audit revenue collected by license center staff and submit the state share to the state.
  •   Provide general office support and reception.
  •   Coordinate the completion of tasks related to various contracts, leases, bonds, etc.
  •   Assist the Auditor/Treasurer in providing administrative support to the County Board.
  •   Process and issue initial and renewing licenses for liquor sales, auctioneers, tobacco sales, and peddlers.
  •   Post revenue due the County from delinquent taxes.
  •   Prepare the delinquent tax list for publishing and notify each property owner.
  •   Post revenues.
  •   Assign appropriate coding for countywide revenues and process them accordingly.
  •   Process fuel tax, mortgage, and deed tax, and property tax settlement submissions.
  •   Process billing for Auditor Office services such as T & C listings.

 

**Requirements:**

  • Education:
  •   AA degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  •   Two years of related experience.
  • OR:
  •   An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions.

 

**Benefits:**

  •   Vacation: Full-time employees earn paid vacation in accordance with the following schedule: 0-1 year, 3.08 hours/pay period; 2-5 years, 3.70 hours/pay period; 6-10 years, 4.31 hours/pay period; 11-15 years, 4.93 hours/pay period; 16-20 years, 5.54 hours/pay period; 21-25 years, 6.16 hours/pay period; 26 years, 6.76 hours/pay period.
  •   Sick Leave: Full-time employees earn 3.70 hours of paid sick leave for each payroll period, which equals approximately 12 days per year.
  •   Holidays: Thirteen days during the work year are considered paid holidays for full-time employees.
  •   Insurance: The County offers eligible employees a high deductible health plan with an employer-funded HSA/VEBA option.
  •   Pension: All employees earning over $5,100.00 annually are automatically enrolled in PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association).
