A Civil Engineer Intern with the Houston Engineering Inc. (HEI) Water Resources group, you will spend time in the field working on outdoor construction phase activities as well as a variety of in-office projects assisting engineers.
Job Description
As an intern, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
- Assist with plan specifications and estimates as well as documenting construction activities.
- Assist with AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and update redlines with various project set drawings.
- Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
- Perform work in a variety of software such as HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, SWMM, ArcGIS, etc.
- Potential observation and data collection at different types of project sites.
- Assist with research, development and design of projects.
We strive to provide a personalized internship based on your area of interest. This may include working on projects like water resources studies, public drainage system repairs, hydrologic modeling and stormwater planning, flood control, levee/floodwall.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering field.
- Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
- Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
- Above average math and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and availability to travel.
