What will I be doing?
ü Developing and overseeing a funding identification and development program serving our member governments, including identifying and pursuing staff or contractor resources needed to meet program goals, developing and implementing program procedures and metrics, and making recommendations for future program development.
ü Coordinating and facilitating a Board of Directors Committee for funding development and developing and administering a ranked proposal request and scoring process in conjunction with the Committee.
ü Oversee and participate in developing compelling grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents, tailored to the specific requirements of various funding sources such as foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
ü Work closely with internal teams, including finance, program staff, and senior leadership, to gather (or oversee staff efforts to gather) the necessary information and ensure that all grant proposals and reports accurately reflect the organization’s needs and achievements.
ü Continuously research and identify new grant opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
ü Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive grant strategy to maximize funding opportunities and build long-term relationships with funders.
Key Qualifications
ü A minimum of 5 years of experience in grant management, proposal writing, or a related field, with a successful track record of securing funding from a variety of sources.
ü Demonstrated ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals and reports.
ü Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders and demonstrated experience working with local governments.
ü High level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing grant applications, budgets, and reports.
ü Strong research and analytical skills to identify funding opportunities and align them with the organization’s goals and programs.
ü Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
ü Proficiency in using grant management software, databases, and standard office applications such as Microsoft Office.
Do you have…
ü Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
ü 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, schools or in job related duties
Preferred Qualifications
ü A Master’s degree in Finance, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a field to funding development and grant management is preferred.
ü Experience with managing staff and/or contractors in funding development.
ü Familiarity with the specific funding landscape relevant to the organization’s mission (e.g., housing, water resources, disaster resilience, public safety, etc.).
ü Certified Grant Writer (CGW) or similar certification is a plus.
ü Experience in broader fundraising efforts, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, or capital campaigns.
ü Experience in preparing and managing grant budgets.
ü Established relationships with local, regional, or national funders.
