JOB SUMMARY
The Cross-Functional Team Member for Data Solutions Development leads the creation and implementation of innovative data and technology solutions to support Houston ISD's operations within the Office of Academics. This role manages workflows, aligns team efforts with district goals, and ensures delivery of scalable tools like dashboards, applications, and web portals that enhance the user experience for students, families, and staff.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manages and leads the execution of team projects, overseeing workflows, timelines, and deliverables to ensure solutions are delivered on time, meet stakeholder requirements, and align with district goals.
2. Designs, implements, and maintains scalable data and technology solutions, including dashboards, web portals, and applications, while serving as the team's technical expert in tools like Power Bl, Power Query, Power Apps, and Power Pages.
3. Collaborates with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, define project objectives, and ensure seamless integration of tools into district systems, supporting operational efficiency.

4. Supervises and supports team members by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and providing guidance and mentorship to enhance skill development, productivity, and collaboration.
5. Identifies opportunities for automation, process optimization, and system improvements, driving innovation to enhance team productivity and the effectiveness of delivered solutions.
6. Acts as a strategic advisor to the data director by providing technical expertise, identifying opportunities for innovation, and offering data-driven insights to shape team strategies and priorities. Leads the implementation of initiatives that align with departmental oafs, ensuring the team's work supports the district's broader mission.
7. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years working in the district / central office of a large urban school district.
SKILL AND / OR REQUIRED LICENSING / CERTIFICATION
Microsoft
Demonstrate expertise in Power BI, Power Apps (Canvas and Model-Driven), Power Pages, and Power Automate, as well as proficiency in web development technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON. Advanced knowledge of Power Query (M), and Dataverse for data integration and transformation is essential, along with experience in designing scalable data workflows, dashboards, and applications. The role requires a strong understanding of automation and process optimization techniques. The CTM must have leadership skills, with the ability to mentor a technical team and manage projects effectively, including timelines, deliverables, and crossfunctional collaboration. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, combined with effective written and verbal communication skills, are critical for presenting solutions and guiding stakeholders.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages. Accomplishes the majority of work objectives through the management of direct reports. Provides day-to-day direction of staff; may become directly involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems. Responsible for assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring application of policies and procedures in the form of objectives, with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides input to hiring, performance and budget.

Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.
