Job Summary


Leads the Assisted Living Community following the “One Hover” philosophy in alignment with

the Board of Directors approved Strategic Plan. Guides and directs the operations of the

Assisted Living Community in accordance with local, state and federal regulations, standards

and established facility policies and procedures to provide appropriate care and services to

elders while demonstrating the Organization’s principles and core values.

Utilizes effective interpersonal communication and leadership skills to motivate team members

in providing quality care to promote purpose for the residents and maintain a high level of

customer and employee satisfaction.

Serves as a liaison with hospital personnel, physicians, community organizations and other

health related service agencies to provide support for our assisted living residents as necessary.

Accountabilities

1. Organizational Strategy

a) Contribute to the development of the organization-wide strategic plan, with a

focus on the initiatives and contribution of the Assisted Living Communities to the

organization’s success.

b) Model the Culture Change Principles of the Eden Alternative.

c) Understand and adhere to Resident Confidentiality and HIPPA regulations.

d) Maintain the highest degree of personal and professional integrity.

e) Ability to train staff and assess and implement systems.

f) Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Hover’s Electronic Health Record

software.

g) Know and honor Resident Rights.

h) Communicate with elders and family members in a respectful manner.

i) Respond to elder family/visitor requests in a timely and appropriate manner.

j) Operate within budgetary parameters.

2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

a) Participate in the resident admission process including screening, care planning,

and team assignments.

b) Participate in ongoing resident assessment and determination of care needs as

required by State-specific regulations and Hover’s policies and procedures.

c) Maintain ongoing collaboration with outside service providers to ensure

coordination of care.

d) Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the overall operation

of the facility as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current state

and federal laws and regulations, in addition to the facility’s programs and

activities.

e) Identifies and evaluates, in conjunction with the Director of Wellness and selected

department heads, the facility’s key performance indicators. Establishes an

ongoing system to monitor these key indicators such as the Quality Assurance and

Performance Improvement (QAPI) process throughout the facility

f) Leads and coordinates daily, weekly, bi-monthly or monthly management team

meetings to discuss priorities and develop solutions with facility leaders such as

census, collections, clinical health, survey readiness, customer service satisfaction,

activity participation, etc.

g) Develops and maintains positive relationships with residents, employees, and family

members through scheduled, deliberate positive interactions with them using face

to face, phone, or other means of communication.

h) Performs rounds to observe residents and ensure overall needs are being met.

Know residents by name and sight.

i) Practices management by walking around. Makes themselves available to

employees at all levels by practicing an open-door policy.

j) Promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication. Promotes

positivity and active daily problem solving.

k) Ensures resident incidents and concerns that rise to a reportable event such as

alleged abuse, neglect, mistreatment, misappropriation, etc. are reported to the

correct entity within the stated regulatory requirement.

l) Promotes and encourages an environment of trust among all employees related to

the overarching goal of resident safety and abuse prevention.

m) Promotes safe work practices, safety rules, and accident prevention procedures to

prevent employee injury and illness.

n) Delegates administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability to other staff

personnel as necessary.

3. Team Members & Training

a) Recruit, select, supervise, mentor, appraise and counsel care team members

according to Hover policies and procedures.

b) Complete team member administrative paperwork as required by Hover HR

policies.

c) Develop and maintain a schedule to ensure adequate staffing for assisted living

positions.

d) Facilitate initial and ongoing training for caregiving team members as well as other

community team members as necessary and as applicable based on Statespecific regulations as well as Hover policies and procedures.

e) Ensure team members understand and effectively utilize the Electronic Health

Record system.

f) Facilitate regularly scheduled team meetings, family meetings and external service

provider communication.

4. Financial performance and viability

a) Develops and implements processes and systems in conjunction with the Finance

team that maintain the fiscal health of the facility.

b) Develops and executes a census and occupancy management strategy that results

in improved census and improved fiscal health for the facility.

c) Understand and establish activities to achieve and/or exceed budgeted

occupancy.

  • Establish plans and processes when necessary to operate effectively when

below budgeted occupancy and operating income.

b) Participate in Hover fundraising activities to assist in achieving the Organization’s

overall goals.

5. Regulatory

a) Leads, guides and directs facility readiness related to State and County health

inspection surveys, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) surveys,

and any other regulatory entity or requirement.

b) Ensures follow up is completed with any “mock” survey issues identified in

preparation for health surveys, OSHA surveys, and any other regulatory

requirement.

c) Ensures the facility’s plan of correction response to any regulatory, inspection

survey is completed, adequate, implemented and timely.

d) Maintain a thorough working knowledge of state regulations, policies and

procedures.

e) Ensure compliance with State, County, OSHA, FDA and Fire safety standards

relative to clinical systems and elder care.

f) Ensure effective house council, family council and support group meetings in

accordance with State-specific regulations and Hover policies and procedures.

g) Maintain networks with external organizations that specialize in Assisted Living and

memory impairment issues to keep informed and up to date on current trends in

treatment and research.

6. Physical Demands/Working Conditions

a) Must be able to communicate and function in an interdisciplinary team.

b) Plans for and meets deadlines. Maintains a flexible work schedule to meet the

demands of the Hover Leadership Team. Hours may be long and irregular.

c) Demonstrates commitment to continued professional growth and development.

d) Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

e) Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.

f) Must be proficient with computer applications including Word, Excel, Internet,

Electronic Health Record and any others that may be required.

7. Qualifications and Educational Requirements

a) BA degree in Social Work, Psychology, Gerontology, Therapeutic Recreation or

another applicable field.

b) Meet State qualifications and training requirements for the position – Colorado

Administrator Certificate.

c) Prefer Five years of supervisory responsibility in a senior care or healthcare setting.

d) Strong background in evaluating residents' behavioral symptoms and developing

non-pharmacologic approaches to meeting residents' needs.
