POSITION CLASS DESCRIPTION / SUMMARY:
The MIC Client Services Associate supports the Maryland Innovation Center (MIC) and the Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA) by managing front desk operations, providing a welcoming environment for visitors and clients, and assisting in event coordination and logistics.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Professionally handle incoming calls for the MIC and the HCEDA.
- Welcome visitors and clients with a warm and friendly demeanor, directing them to relevant meeting spaces.
- Receive and sort incoming mail and packages.
- Regularly check and replenish snacks and beverages in common areas to maintain a welcoming environment.
- Restock kitchen supplies, including cutlery, dishware, coffee, tea, and other amenities as needed.
- Enter MIC member company information into Salesforce.
- Point of contact for communications with Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIRs).
- Keep the reception area clean and tidy to maintain a professional appearance.
- Relay messages and information promptly and accurately to relevant individuals or departments.
- Address inquiries from visitors and clients courteously, both in person and via email.
- Coordinate with MIC staff to determine food and beverage requirements for events.
- Place orders with catering services or vendors to ensure timely delivery.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to support the efficient operation of the organization.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or associate's degree preferred
- 2 years experience in front desk, customer service, or administrative support roles
- Strong communication skills for professionally handling inquiries, messages, and welcoming visitors
- Organizational and multitasking skills for maintaining reception area, coordinating supplies, and supporting event logistics
- Experience with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce a plus)
- Attention to detail in managing mail, stocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness
- Ability to work independently and support various tasks flexibly to meet operational needs
