Job Summary:
The Measurement Technician III is responsible for overseeing liquid measurement equipment and ensuring its operational efficiency. This role involves maintaining peak performance of liquid measurement and quality systems through installation, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of flow equipment, analyzers, and samplers. Ensuring data accuracy, supporting safety protocols, and demonstrating the ability to work independently are key responsibilities of this position.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Travel required locally or long-distance up to 20% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
Equipment:
Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to the position.
Mental and Physical Demands:
Regularly required to walk, stand, crawl, climb stairs and bend; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms over shoulder height; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Frequent pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, bending, balance, depth perception, repetitive arm/hand movements, eye-hand-foot coordination, manual dexterity (eye/hand coordination) finger dexterity, vision acuity (far/near) and hearing acuity. May be required to climb ladders and/or stairs more than 50 ft. and work in confined spaces. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
May be required to spend 50% or greater of time in an outdoor setting. Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Maintain emotional control under stress, work with interruptions and deadlines.
May work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Environmental Factors:
May be exposed to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.). Will work in or around industrial and construction settings, which may include working with chemicals, hazardous products, processes, and materials. Exposure to loud machinery, moving mechanical parts and adverse weather conditions. Gaseous risk exposure and occasional dangerous driving conditions. Will work with petroleum products under high pressure and in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Installs, commissions, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and maintains liquid measurement equipment (e.g., dry flow recorders, EFMs, USMs, samplers, orifice plates, meter tubes).
- Ensures all liquid measurement and related equipment operates efficiently.
- Installs, commissions, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and maintains all liquid quality equipment including liquid chromatographs, O2 analyzers, H2S analyzers, H2O analyzers, and composite samplers.
- Performs spot sampling and witness custody transfer meters.
- Actively supports Environmental, Health and Safety processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies, carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating practices and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Prepares accurate reports and records of work performed.
- Conducts preventative maintenance to extend equipment lifespan and minimize downtime.
- Collaborates with engineering and operations teams to optimize measurement and quality processes.
- Assists with training junior technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Implements improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of measurement operations.
- Participates in audits and compliance inspections, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
- Assists in the development and implementation of maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Uses computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for documentation and workflow management.
- Assists in analyzing measurement variance reports and resolving discrepancies with customers and loss and unaccounted reports.
- Utilizes gas and liquid field measurement applications such as TestIT, OMNICOM and Roclink.
- Utilizes PYCit, PROVEit and FLOWCAL analytical software in portable proving.
- Proves mass and volumetric meters (e.g., Micro Motion, PD meters, Turbine meters).
- Manages scheduling and oversees daily business operations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Proficient in multiple competencies relevant to the job.
- Basic math skills required.
- Must be a self-starter and have good communication with team members.
- Excellent communication skills for customer interactions.
- Senior-level skillset with expertise in liquid measurement and associated equipment.
- Proficient in basic programming, calibration, and troubleshooting of EFMs.
- Familiarity with basic electricity and electronic equipment used in measurement systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of liquid components, liquid quality standards, and proper sampling procedures.
- Knowledgeable about orifice and ultrasonic meters used in field operations.
- Proficient in communication and SCADA system protocols, understanding their interrelationships.
- Familiarity with EPA, DOT, RRC, OSHA, NEC, AGA, API, and GPA regulations and procedures.
