Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and reliable General Maintenance Worker to join our team at Howard Johnson. This individual will be responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance tasks throughout the hotel, ensuring all facilities and equipment are in excellent working condition. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of general maintenance procedures and be proactive in addressing any maintenance issues to ensure the comfort and safety of guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance of hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Handle basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repairs as needed.
- Ensure all equipment, machinery, and systems are operating properly, making repairs or replacements when necessary.
- Respond promptly to guest requests for maintenance issues, addressing them in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with the setup, maintenance, and repair of hotel amenities (e.g., pools, fitness equipment, and outdoor areas).
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance workshop and storage areas.
- Work with other departments to address maintenance issues that may impact hotel operations.
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Keep detailed records of all maintenance work performed, including repairs, replacements, and inspections.
- Perform emergency repairs as needed and ensure minimal disruption to guests.
- Assist with seasonal maintenance tasks such as snow removal, landscaping, and general upkeep.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a general maintenance role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, and other building systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
- Availability to work weekends, evenings, and on-call shifts as needed.
