Purchasing Manager – Industrial & Heavy-Duty Truck Markets
Our client, a third-generation, family-owned manufacturer and distributor of brass fittings, is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join their team. Founded in 1946, the company specializes in industrial fittings used in heavy-duty trucks, industrial applications, plumbing, and HVAC, selling primarily to wholesalers and independent distributors.
Position Overview:
This full-time, in-office role is essential to the company’s operations, ensuring efficient procurement and inventory management. With no one in this role for almost two years, the Purchasing Manager will play a key role in driving business success by managing supplier relationships, optimizing purchasing decisions, and ensuring inventory accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and manage purchase orders based on inventory needs and supplier capabilities.
- Analyze procurement needs to ensure the right parts and materials are ordered from the correct vendors.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to secure the best value for the company.
- Oversee vendor relationships, primarily domestic, with a few international suppliers.
- Manage inventory and supply chain processes, including receiving products in the system and resolving discrepancies.
- Monitor pricing issues, shortages, and delays, implementing solutions as needed.
- Utilize Excel for data analysis to optimize purchasing decisions and ensure cost efficiency.
- Ensure accurate documentation of purchasing records and transactions.
Qualifications:
- Experience in industrial distribution purchasing, preferably within a manufacturing or assembly environment.
- Strong understanding of parts and materials procurement, including bill of materials experience.
- Ability to analyze purchasing trends and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with inventory management systems.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills to manage vendor relationships effectively.
- Ability to work in-office five days a week (location-based).
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary: $80K-$100K, depending on experience.
