Job Overview
HPS Mechanical is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator/Underground Site Foreman for prevailing wage projects in the Bakersfield Area to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various types of heavy machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This role is crucial in ensuring that construction projects are completed on time and to the highest standards. The Equipment Operator will work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure that all operations align with project specifications and safety regulations.
Duties
- Operate heavy machinery, including excavators, skid-steers, mini-excavators, loaders, and forklifts to assist in construction projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and schematics to understand project requirements.
- Operator with CAT controls.
- Experience with Water, Sewer, Gas and Storm Drain.
- Lift heavy objects and stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Work independently while completing daily tasks in a timely manner.
- Follow and understand oral and written instructions.
- Communicate clearly and collaborate with supervisors to ensure that all equipment is used safely and effectively.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Comply with company and job specific safety rules and regulations at all times.
Skills
- Proficient in operating various types of heavy machinery related to construction projects.
- Strong understanding of pipeline operations and construction management principles.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, including blueprints and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in all tasks.
