Summary

HR Green is seeking a strategic and dynamic leader to serve as Group Director – Engineering Services within our Municipal Services Business Unit, overseeing teams across California, Colorado, and North Texas. In this role, you will work closely with the Business Unit President to drive innovation, operational excellence, and business growth within Engineering Services.

You will lead and develop a high-performing team, ensuring the successful delivery of municipal engineering services while overseeing financial performance, business development, and market expansion. A strong focus on strategic growth and client relationship management is essential, as you will play a key role in strengthening HR Green’s presence and identifying new opportunities.

Collaboration is at the heart of this position—you’ll work alongside other leaders, Group Leaders, and Managers to foster staff development and ensure the team has the resources and expertise needed for success. Additionally, you may manage key projects and contracts while engaging with Business Units and other client initiatives. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Operations

  • Aligns project management, service delivery, and resource planning with the strategic and business goals of the Engineering Services Group.
  • Monitors group performance and collaborates with Business Units Operations to implement corrective actions that ensure financial and operational success.
  • Works closely with Leaders, Directors, and other Leaders to expand service offerings and strengthen HR Green’s market presence.
  • Manages the financial aspects of the group, including sales, revenue growth, and profit margins, to achieve business objectives.
  • Supports additional operational initiatives as assigned by the Business Unit President.

Strategic Management

  • Drives performance to meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including Engineering Gross Margin, Sales, Revenues, Utilization, and Accounts Receivable.
  • Partners with the Business Unit President to develop and manage the annual Engineering Services budget, ensuring top and bottom-line revenue growth.
  • Actively participates in Business Unit leadership meetings to align group strategy with overall business objectives.

Employee Development & Team Leadership

  • Identifies skills and competencies required to meet client and business needs, working closely with Group Leaders and HR to recruit and retain top talent.
  • Oversees performance management and staff development, setting clear team goals and providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Collaborates Group Leaders and managers to conduct effective Mid-Year and Annual Performance Evaluations and ensure staff members meet their professional development goals.
  • Facilitates regular team meetings to discuss resource needs, technical challenges, and best practices.

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Supports proposal development, including Statements of Qualifications (SOQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and client interviews.
  • Establishes and monitors group sales goals in coordination with the Business Unit President, developing and implementing Client Account Plans to drive growth.
  • Leads business development efforts, identifying and qualifying new clients, making go/no-go decisions, and securing new business opportunities.
  • Strengthens client relationships to ensure service retention, repeat business, and market expansion.
  • Engages in cross-marketing efforts, collaborating with other Business Units to maximize opportunities and enhance HR Green’s competitive positioning.

Leadership & Brand Development

  • Provides strategic direction, guidance, and support to employees within the group, fostering a high-performing and engaged team.
  • Champions succession planning, knowledge sharing, and professional growth to sustain long-term success.
  • Works collaboratively across Business Units and Practices to drive company-wide alignment and success.
  • Represents HR Green by actively participating in local professional and civic organizations to strengthen the company’s brand and presence in the industry.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or a related technical field.
  • 10 years of leadership experience in an engineering or construction firm, or local government, with a proven track record in people management and business development.
  • Proven ability to secure new business, with a strong history of winning work opportunities.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated success in developing, planning, and executing market growth initiatives.
  • Exceptional communicator with strong people management skills and the ability to navigate and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Respected industry professional, well-known in professional organizations and the regional marketplace.
  • Skilled in networking, collaboration, and cross-functional partnerships, both within a regional area and across internal teams.
  • Consistently exceeds expectations, KPI targets, and project deliverables.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, fostering high-performing teams.
  • Excellent writing and technical skills, with proficiency in fundamental computer applications.

Compensation Range

$154,500.00 - $235,900.00

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and California SB 1162The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).

Salary : $154,500 - $235,900
