Are you a dynamic leader passionate about managing complex municipal engineering projects and building strong client relationships? We’re looking for a Municipal Engineering Project Manager to join our team and make a lasting impact on the development and improvement of public infrastructure.
In this role, you will oversee development review operations as well as Capital Improvement Programs (CIPs), manage diverse projects like roadways, storm drains, and water systems, and collaborate closely with municipal clients to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions. With responsibilities spanning project management, business development, and client communication, this position offers the chance to shape communities while advancing your career.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management
- Oversee entitlement reviews for development projects within client agencies, providing technical guidance and ensuring compliance with local ordinances.
- Develop and manage multi-year CIP programs for small to medium-sized municipalities, including budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
- Lead projects across various disciplines, including transportation, traffic, stormwater management, and utility improvements.
- Coordinate cross-departmental communications with city departments, public agencies, and stakeholders such as MPOs.
- Review and approve project scopes, budgets, and contracts for engineering work, ensuring adherence to municipal codes and regulations.
- Manage QA/QC processes, plan reviews, and the preparation of department budgets for municipal clients.
- Secure necessary permits and collaborate with external agencies to advance project objectives.
Business Development
- Identify and pursue project opportunities, providing input into marketing plans and proposal development.
- Lead presentations to clients and represent the company during project interviews.
- Expand client relationships through exceptional service and cross-marketing of firm-wide services.
Client and Team Communications
- Maintain strong, ongoing relationships with clients during and after project completion to ensure satisfaction and uncover new opportunities.
- Coordinate project invoicing and collections while ensuring timely communication with all stakeholders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for contractors, sub-consultants, and project teams, ensuring seamless collaboration.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 10 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal engineering or public infrastructure, with a track record of managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex projects.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
- Experience with permitting processes and QA/QC protocols.
- Strong project skills with the ability to manage schedules, budgets, and multiple clients/projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to mentor and lead technical teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Familiarity with funding programs such as CMAQ, STP, and ATP, and experience navigating municipal and state regulations.

Compensation Range
$108,900.00 - $171,700.00
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with California’s SB 1162. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
