JOB DESCRIPTION
The Cannabis Retail Team Lead, employed by HR MGMT 10 LLC as the Employer of Record, will work on-site at one of our brand partners' cannabis retail locations. This role is responsible for supporting the Retail Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the store, leading the retail staff, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining compliance with cannabis regulations, and assisting with inventory management and sales strategies. The Retail Team Lead will work closely with the Retail Manager and other team members to ensure the store operates smoothly and meets business goals. The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in a retail environment, excellent customer service skills, and a strong understanding of cannabis products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Support:
- Assist the Retail Manager in supervising and leading the retail staff, ensuring adherence to company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and compliance with regulations.
- Train, mentor, and motivate retail staff to deliver excellent customer service and product knowledge.
- Act as the main point of contact for retail team members during shifts, addressing any questions or concerns and ensuring a smooth workflow.
Customer Service Excellence:
- Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service, assisting customers in selecting the right cannabis products, and answering product-related questions.
- Handle escalated customer inquiries, complaints, or issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure that the retail team is consistently meeting customer service standards and providing a welcoming and informative experience for all customers.
Sales and Inventory Management:
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels, conducting regular inventory counts, and ensuring all products are properly labeled, stocked, and displayed.
- Support the Retail Manager in implementing sales strategies, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and helping the team meet or exceed sales targets.
- Ensure the team follows proper procedures for processing sales transactions, handling cash, and reconciling registers at the end of each shift.
Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
- Ensure the retail team adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations related to the sale of cannabis, including verifying customer IDs, maintaining accurate records, and following purchase limits.
- Work closely with the Compliance Manager to ensure that all transactions and procedures meet legal requirements.
- Conduct regular compliance checks to ensure that the store meets all regulatory standards.
Store Operations and Maintenance:
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setting up the store, cash handling, and securing the premises.
- Ensure the store is clean, organized, and well-maintained at all times, including restocking products and organizing displays.
- Manage daily operational tasks, including scheduling, staff assignments, and reporting any issues to the Retail Manager.
Training and Development:
- Assist in onboarding and training new retail staff members, ensuring they understand store policies, compliance procedures, and customer service expectations.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to team members to help improve performance and ensure a cohesive and efficient team.
- Lead by example and promote a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and personal growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a retail environment, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience in the cannabis industry or a similarly regulated field is highly preferred.
- Strong customer service and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Knowledge of cannabis products, strains, and consumption methods, or a willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 21 years old.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required state-specific certifications for retail roles within the cannabis industry.
- Physical ability to perform typical retail tasks, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
