What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Tech II position at HR-Rethought?
The Role: We are seeking a hands-on, technically skilled, and problem-solving Field Service Tech II to join our team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and customer-focused, with the ability to work independently and collaborate with a team. You will provide remote and in person support to customers by troubleshooting RFID systems, embedded computers, electrical and electronics systems used in wayside in the rail industry, and more.
Field Service Tech II Responsibilities:
- Bench troubleshoot and repair circuit boards
- Provide phone support of technicians working in the field
- Field support of electronic systems on and off the rail
- Evaluate customer needs and meet quality standards of evaluating customer satisfaction
- Manufacture of electronic systems based on work orders
- Admin tasks- maintain repair logs
- Create and maintain documentation for electronic and software products
- Operate an ERP system to complete work orders and maintain inventory
- Other duties as assigned
Field Service Tech Qualifications, Requirements, and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent minimum education
- Electronics Technical degree or 2 years experience with electronics or electrical system maintenance and repair
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Personable/ customer service skills
- Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to travel- some overnight stays possible
- Microsoft Office experience
- E-Rail Safe
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Employees will be subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing as an employee. If a drug test is requested, the employee will be required to undergo testing for commonly abused controlled substances, including but not limited to marijuana, in accordance with this policy.
Field Service Tech II Work Conditions
- Lab and desk work- sitting during bench work and computer work
- Shop work- standing, light assembly, occasional lifting of materials
- Field work- driving and standing, occasional lifting, use of basic tools, and digging
- Proximity to moving trains
