What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Coordinator position at HRL Laboratories, LLC?
General Description
The Lab Coordinator will play a key role in managing the daily operations of our spin qubit test laboratory facilities, ensuring a safe, organized, supplied, and efficient working environment. This position is responsible for maintaining equipment and inventory as well as supporting lab personnel in their research and testing activities. The Lab Coordinator will work closely with lab staff to uphold compliance with safety standards and protocols, oversee equipment calibration and maintenance in partnership with other hardware organizations, and support standardization through develop of documentation and training. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties
Identify ways that lab operations can be more effective, such as designing new practices, incorporating new tools, developing training documentation, etc.
Oversees, coordinates and supports laboratory operations, including safety, equipment and tool availability.
Ensure that laboratories have all necessary tools & consumables (e.g. hand tools, cryogens, gloves, wipes, solvents, adhesives used in dilution refrigerators)
Work with neighboring departments &/or purchasing to replace faulty electronics and equipment
Lab safety, including inspections and working with the Environmental Health & Safety department to resolve issues
Coordinates lab interruptions such as facilities upgrades or repair work
Maintain clear records and documentation related to lab activities and equipment, configuration management.
Coordinates equipment shutdown and bring-up procedures with responsible tool owners in case of unplanned events (e.g. power outages)
Required Skills
Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills to manage multiple tasks
Knowledge of laboratory operations, quality management systems, and regulatory requirements
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience Building And Maintaining Positive Relationships With Other Departments

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree with a major in a STEM discipline and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a research lab environment.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform tasks safely in a lab environment and be able to occasionally work on ladders and/or scaffolding.
Must be able to lift/push/pull 15-20 pounds consistently.
Special Requirements
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
Compensation
The range for this full-time position is $31.54 - $38.48 per hour bonus benefits.
