Job Title: Building Materials Delivery Dispatcher
Essential Duties:
Administrative/Personnel Management
- Listen and respond to driver feedback/issues (drivers requested: first aid kits, job-specific tools on the trucks, protocol changes)
- Communicate to drivers regarding Standard Operating Procedures, changes, customer issues, safety, feedback from management
- Delegate work as needed such as staging/moving product, lumber building materials, safety checks / cleaning vehicles and stocking delivery items.
- Facilitate training of new hires
- Manage driver schedules, vacations, call-offs, and substitutes
Customer Service
- Bridge the communication and information gap between sales and customers to get delivery done accurately and with the necessary equipment (correct “Ship to Address,” correct supplies and tools, correct specific precautions based on conversation with customer)
- Handle problems that arise on delivery
- Handle property damage claims
- Handle customer service inquiries
- Expedite urgent Special Orders
- Create Delivery Expectations” document to keep strong communication to the customer from point of sale to delivery
- Contact customers to coordinate their delivery, adopting firm yet flexible outlook
- Handle customer service calls regarding defective product
Logistics/Delivery Troubleshooting
- Identify and mitigate delivery pitfalls beforehand
- Handle customer service calls as needed
- Plan and schedule deliveries, accounting for mileage and install time
- Coordinate schedule of non-department use of box trucks
- Handle delivery vehicle maintenance issues (tires, oil changes, repairs as they are needed)
- Interpret accrued data to plan staffing needs and number of delivery trucks needed
- Make sure the delivery trucks have adequate and specific tools
- Provide feedback to sales team regarding sales-based issues (wrong addresses, improper parts/quantities sold, product not ordered or backorders)
- Organize data on appliances, mileage, stops, damages, SKUs, in order to make future efficiency changes
- Coordinate closely with Warehouse Manager/ puller to ensure the correct product is on hand and ready for delivery
- Coordinate items being pulled for transfers and loading of the transfer truck
- Also assist in deliveries as needed - must be able to have a clear driving record and pass a DOT physical.
- Pulling loads in warehouse or in yard as needed.

Job Particulars
Full Time - up to 45 hours on average in peak season or at the direction of management; 40 hours in the off season.
