Position Summary

As a Tools and Outdoor Power Sales Team Member at Hartville Hardware, you assist customers in selecting the right tools for their needs, offering expert product recommendations to help them make informed decisions. Your strong interest in tools, outdoor power and DIY projects, combined with excellent communication skills, allows you to provide top-notch customer service and drive sales of tools and related products. Your role is essential in ensuring customers have the right tools for their projects, while creating a positive shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Assistance:

• • • Greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance in selecting tools and hardware products.
    • Offer expert advice and guidance on tools, including hand tools, power tools, and accessories, based on customer needs and preferences.
    • Demonstrate the proper use and features of various tools to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.

• Sales and Upselling:

• • • Drive sales for tools and related products through upselling, product promotions, and cross-selling.
    • Promote current sales, discounts, and special offers related to tools and hardware items.
    • Drive tool-related sales by recommending complementary products such as tool accessories, replacement parts, or maintenance supplies.

• Product Knowledge:

• • • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, new arrivals, and industry trends in tools and hardware.
    • Keep track of tool specifications, safety features, and benefits to provide accurate information to customers.
    • Stay knowledgeable about tool brands, product warranties, and tool care to offer comprehensive advice.

• Inventory and Stocking:

• • • Assist with stocking, organizing, and arranging tool displays on the sales floor to ensure products are accessible and visually appealing.
    • Help track inventory levels and communicate any low-stock or out-of-stock items to management.
    • Ensure all products are properly labeled, tagged, and priced according to store policies.

• Store Maintenance:

• • • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sales floor, ensuring tools are displayed neatly and customers can easily find the items they need.
    • Ensure tools and displays are in excellent condition, reporting any damaged or faulty items to management.

• Customer Education:

• • • Educate customers on tool care, maintenance, and safety to ensure they get the most out of their purchases.
    • Offer product demonstrations and explain tool features, proper usage, and best practices to help customers make well-informed decisions.

• Team Collaboration:

• • Work closely with other sales team members to meet store objectives and provide excellent customer service.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and product knowledge workshops to stay informed on new products and sales techniques.

Qualifications

• Experience:

• • • Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or hardware is preferred.
    • Familiarity with tools and hardware products, such as power tools, hand tools, and accessories, is a plus.

• Skills:

• • • Strong customer service and communication skills.
    • Ability to recommend tools and products based on customer needs.
    • Enthusiastic interest in tools, DIY projects, and home improvement.
    • Basic math skills to assist with pricing and handling transactions.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and manage multiple customer interactions simultaneously.
    • Technology Proficiency: Comfort with using point-of-sale systems and other technology to process orders and payments.

• Physical Requirements:

• • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with stocking shelves or organizing products.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, bend, and move around the sales floor.

Availability Requirements

• Part-time, 25-28 hours on average
• Able to adjust schedule as department needs arise
• Must be willing to work Saturdays and evenings until 7pm
• Store Hours are Monday-Friday 6am-7pm and Saturday 7am-5pm
• Positions will start in July
