What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Exercise Instructor position at HRYMCA?
Are you the type of person who likes to make an impact? Consider joining the team at the Hampshire Regional YMCA. We are looking for group exercise instructors of all varieties of fitness. Your involvement will be felt by members and staff, and you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the Y community.
Job Duties
- Teach 1-2 classes per week of medium to high intensity strength and cardio AND/OR teach 1-2 classes per week geared toward older adults
- Motivate and encourage many different fitness levels in the same class
- Create an inclusive environment in which all individuals feel welcome and respected
- Understand different health needs and approach participants’ capabilities accordingly
- Learn to use media cart to teach both virtual and in-person classes
- Create community and engage with Y members of many different backgrounds
- Classes may take place at the Y or at a collaborating local senior center
Qualifications
- Availability to teach one evening or early morning per week required for those interested in teaching higher intensity classes
- Weekday morning/early afternoon required for those interested in teaching older adult classes
- 2 years group exercise teaching preferred
- Possess certification/training from ACE, AFAA, NASM, or SCW Fitness
- Additional training will be provided
- Good human relation skills and willingness to serve members
