SUMMARY/SCOPE:
Assistant to the Resident Director (ARD). The ARD is a full-time
student who serves in a leadership role on the Residence Life Staff. The ARD
position is vital to the smooth operation of the residential community at
Hardin-Simmons University. It is necessary for the ARD to limit
extracurricular activities and to seek permission for any part-time employment
or other commitments. ARDs are supervised by an assigned Residence Director
(RD) and service is based on a two-semester term.
ARDs are
para-professional student leaders who live in residence and provide intentional
programs and services, including the encouragement of holistic development of
residents and help the Resident Director. The ARD will function as an educator,
chaplain, and facilitator to provide residents with opportunities for personal
and spiritual growth, including interpreting and enforcing HSU policies and
cultivating a Christ-Centered living area through building relationships with
students that foster a sense of belonging to HSU’s residential community.
The Assistant to
the Resident Director will help the Resident Director in his/her daily tasks.
