Cerner CareAware MDI Analyst

The role of the Cerner CareAware MDI Analyst is responsible for providing implementation and maintenance services for medical device connectivity products. This highly technical and hands-on position requires the incumbent to work in a team and individual work setting contributing to all aspects of system integration including design, needs analysis, design review, testing, implementation, and validation. As an MDI Analyst, you will support our client through regular project events, testing calls, status meetings, and conversion support. The MDI Consultant will provide expert industry knowledge in complex client environments. You will contribute to implementing best practices, troubleshooting device integration, assessing risk, and mitigating findings.

Responsibilities:

  • Connect medical devices, such as pumps and monitors, to the client's EMR (Cerner Millennium) via Cerner CareAware iBus.
  • Configuration of Cerner Connectivity Engines and Device Adaptors.
  • Conducting technical training with appropriate client resources such as Clinical Informatics, IT, Lab Analysts, and Biomed.
  • Must have configuration experience leveraging iCommand and Phoenix tools to configure Laboratory Medical Device Interfaces.
  • Must have experience being the lead on an MDI project from start to finish performing onsite and remote implementation tasks.
  • Advise on Device Integration deployment strategies, including interdependencies and design impacts.
  • Test/troubleshoot issues with connections as needed Manage printer issues and updates, working with the Field Services team as needed.
  • Facilitate technical discovery and provide expertise based on the client-specific environment and clinical workflow.
  • Engage in client support outside of standard business hours, as needed to support client needs
  • Establish client relationships and maintain a high level of client satisfaction
  • Analyze and solution development for key IT initiatives
  • Assure proposed design and alterations to systems are supportable
  • Consult on engagements and report writing on complex projects; build-out requirements for codes and connectivity
  • Consult with end users to test and debug
  • Coordinate applications across the organization
  • Create project and process documentation for interface, applications, and operating system environment; Including filtering, message customizations, problem resolution, Root Cause Analysis, and alerting.
  • Design, Build, optimize and upgrade Integration Engine Installations.
  • Develops and implements solutions coordinating applications across the enterprise or its units/departments.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging relevant technologies and solutions.
  • Evaluate components or systems to determine integration requirements and ensure final solutions meet organizational needs.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to internal stakeholders in areas of product expertise.
  • Provide 2nd level support to the senior support team.
  • Reuses components when possible and assists management in buy/build decisions.
  • Adhere to established processes, methodologies, best practices for technical implementations, and documentation.
  • Participation in the development of the integration team, contributing to reviews of methodologies, standards, and processes.
  • Owns their portfolio of solutions by keeping abreast of enhancements, patches, and upgrades and ensuring that these are communicated to HIT leadership and implemented timely
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Strong knowledge of Cerner BMDI infrastructure. Background experience with Cerner BMDI toolset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of marketplace experience, developments, and trends related to the Information Technology (IT) function.
  • Ability to develop secure, scalable, reliable systems, end-to-end
  • Explain plans to designers and developers
  • Troubleshoot and deal with problems as they arise.
  • Willingness to maintain technical competencies across a wide set of technologies.
  • Knowledge of MS Project, MS Visio, Windows, and MS Word preferred.
  • High level of proficiency with the following structured formats; HL7, XML(XSD), X12, FRL, and VRL.
  • Must have knowledge of networking architecture and protocols including but not limited to TCPIP, FTP/SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, HTTP, and SOAP.
  • Excellent skills in Database management and SQL.
  • On-call/off-hour responsibilities

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree preferred in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Healthcare Systems Integration
  • 3 years working with CareAware Solutions, icommand, Capman, CareAware connect, CareView, and MDI.
  • 1 Years of Cerner Open Engine experience
  • Scripting & Configuration experience preferred. (ie AIX/Linux, Sequel series, non-standard protocol)
  • Requires excellent technical skills across a wide range of technologies (ie HL7 or other format interfaces, Cloverleaf(Preferred), Mirth Connect, FTP Managed Solutions
