About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Test Unit Specialist to join our team at HTRI. The successful candidate will have experience in designing, developing, and testing industrial process systems.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and develop research test unit upgrades/modifications, ensuring implementation as designed.
- Apply knowledge of codes and standards, such as ASME BPVC Section II & VIII, ASME B31.3, relevant API standards, and NFPA standards, to specify required equipment and instrumentation.
- Develop virtual parts and assembly drawings using 3D CAD software like AutoDesk Inventor, providing construction drawings.
- Create comprehensive project budgets based on supplier quotations, utilizing standard-based specifications.
- Design P&IDs, wiring schematics, and equipment drawings to document research unit modifications.
- Analyze measurement accuracy and uncertainties of temperature, pressure, pressure drop, flow rate, heat balance, and other parameters.
- Coordinate calibration of instrumentation on research units and oversee maintenance of calibration equipment.
- Work with research engineers to update test unit operating manuals.
- Conduct experiments of single-phase and two-phase flow and heat transfer with and without phase change for different types of heat exchangers.
- Provide technical assistance to less experienced engineers, responding to inquiries related to HTRI software and methods.
