Position Overview
The Buyer will research and purchase products goods and services in support of manufacturing, ensuring a competitive price and meeting quality and delivery standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Purchases and maintains goods and services required for manufacturing.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of purchased items.
  • Seek to cut costs by competitive purchasing techniques.
  • Ensure items purchased match requirements of purchase order.
  • Locate and evaluate subcontractors.
  • Provide vendor sourcing: analyze bids, locate and qualify vendors, request quotations from qualified vendors, and negotiate and complete purchase agreements.
  • Provide pricing of materials and lead times of parts for customer requests and new products.
  • Self-directed and takes a proactive role in solving problems related to purchased goods anticipating problems and seeking solutions.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of five years experience in a Planning or Purchasing role.
  • Minimum of five years experience of SAP or MRP business systems required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Efficient typing skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and legal aspects of purchasing.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
