JOB SUMMARY
The Safety Manager is responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees. The Safety Manager must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards. They will also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following represents a list of primary duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned:
- Conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
- Plan, implement, and conduct preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
- Plan, implement, manage, and maintain comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on premises or at site locations.
- Create and implement workplace health and safety plans and procedures
· Evaluate health and safety practice and procedures for risk assessment and following legal guidelines
- Provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations and procedures
- Serve as primary contact for injury and accident notification, investigation, and case management.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to find cause and take prevention measures for further incidents
- In participation with HR, manage worker's compensation claims in the event of a workplace accidentIncludes maintaining OSHA 300 log
- Maintain DOT records; compile and provide information as needed for audits or as requested.
- Maintain a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and good engineering practices.
- Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies
- Inspect equipment for unsafe workplace conditions
- Monitor the removal of biological, physical, or chemical hazards from a workplace
- Collaborate with management to develop/maintain the Emergency Action Plan
- Advise the company’s Leadership team on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations
- Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations
- Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines
- Analyze incident reports, metrics and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer environment
- Develop and Maintain ISO safety standards
- Participate as an ISO implementation leader
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or related discipline required; equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of degree
- 3 years’ experience as a safety manager in a manufacturing environment
- 3 years’ experience with ISO 9001
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and OSHA 30-hour highly desired
- Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines
- Extensive attention to detail to distinguish safety hazards
- Ability to provide detailed reports and develop safety procedures
- Good understanding of data analysis and risk assessment
- Good organizational, leadership and motivational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to recognize when safety conditions need improvement
- Ability to train employees of varying classifications (executive, frontline, service, remote, etc.)
Salary : $90,000 - $105,000
