POSITION SUMMARY:
The Bilingual Intervention Specialist plays an important role at HART. We are looking for someone who is bold and approaches the work with humility.  Equity and healing, for youth and within the team, are at the core of what we do.  The Bilingual Intervention Specialist will be responsible, under the supervision of the Senior Program Manager, for providing core trauma-informed and healing-oriented direct services. 

TEAM SUMMARY:

HART provides holistic advocacy and direct services to youth ages 11-24 who are vulnerable to or experiencing commercial sexual exploitation/involved in sex trafficking/engaging in survival sex.   Services are designed to support youth in moving towards safer environments and stabilization, as they define them.  

Using a harm reduction, client-centered, empowerment, and relationship driven approach, HART provides case management, crisis response, and psychoeducation to young people. We value collaboration with community partners. 

HART is composed of a team of Intervention Specialists (Case Managers/Advocates), therapist, and Senior Program Manager.  We are a close team that learn from and grow with each other.  We are committed to the youth we work with and their healing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide case management both in the community, at partner sites, and on site at the office to youth ages 11-24 who are at risk of or are experiencing commercial sexual exploitation.

  2. Maintain ongoing caseload and consistently document services.

  3. Balance multiple tasks in response to ongoing and emergent youth needs, crisis response, and documentation.

  4. Complete intakes after being assigned clients.

  5. Provide 24-hour crisis response when scheduled on-call (typically one week a month), which includes both crisis intervention and follow up.

  6. Network with other community-based providers to establish relationships and resources, including providing consultation to other community providers.

  7. Co-facilitate groups.

  8. Engage in special projects co-created with members of the team.

  9. Participate in staff development activities including: individual supervision, group supervision, all agency meetings and trainings, clinical trainings and interdisciplinary meetings.

  10. Provide support and integration with HYP programs and services to provide a seamless experience for youth.

  11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Two years’ experience working with marginalized youth and families in a community based setting

  2. Ability to speak, read and write fluently in both English and Spanish. Must be able to perform all essential functions in Spanish. Bilingual stipend provided - $1.75/hour

  3. Proven ability to balance crisis and an empowerment approach when working with youth

  4. Experience working with public systems, particularly the foster care system.

  5. Experience utilizing and commitment to the harm reduction model.

  6. Experience advocating in a collaborative process and negotiating various systems

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  1. One year of experience working with youth experiencing commercial sexual exploitation lts and/or youth and young adults in the sex trades preferred.

  2. Familiarity and/or lived experience with public systems

  3. Knowledge of community based agencies serving adolescents in S.F strongly preferred

  8. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team that prioritizes transparency and feedback.

  9. Able to address crisis as it emerges in an office setting as well as in the field.

  10. Commitment to managing vicarious trauma and collaborating to create a trauma-informed team environment

  11. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

This position is non-exempt and is eligible for on-call pay.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role must be able to sit comfortably in a car when driving for up to an hour at a time. This role requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend, sit or stand as necessary and climb stairs.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • TB clearance

  • Valid CA driver’s license & clear DMV record

  • 2 years driving experience

  • COVID-19 Vaccine

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

  • Must pass DOJ/FBI background check.  Due to our requirements with licensing, candidates with backgrounds including items on the non-exemptible crime list will not be eligible for exemption at this time.
