Position Summary

This role will provide leadership for advisement services at the Journal Square Campus, ensuring a seamless student experience and effective operational management. The Associate Director will supervise advisement staff at the Journal Square Campus and remotely, while supporting the implementation of best practices around student support at the College.

The Associate Director will supervise advisement staff at the Journal Square Campus and remotely, while supporting the implementation of best practices around student support at the College.
Summary Of Duties
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Operations
- Serve as the main point of contact for Advisement for strategic operations at the Journal Square Campus.
- Advocate for the needs of staff and students as they relate to Advisement services at Journal Square.
- Serve as point person within the Advisement office for student escalations from various stakeholders, delegating where appropriate.
- Facilitate the advisor assignment process, with support from the Senior Assistant Director of Data and Assessment
- Develop and lead a campus-wide Advising Council, focused on bringing together individuals involved in advising work across schools and functional areas
- Collaborate with the Senior Assistant Director of Advising, Training & Development and Hudson Scholars leadership to identify professional development needs and resources to support the operationalization of best practices from the Hudson Scholars Model
- Serve as the point of contact for Faculty engagement, training and support within the Office of Advisement including, but not limited to the Faculty Mentor program within the Hudson Scholars model
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the area committee structure, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, clear accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide administrative supervision to staff including the Senior Assistant Director of Operations and the Senior Assistant Director of Advisement Training & Development.
- Oversee operational efficiency and ensure that advisement practices are consistent, equitable, and supportive of student needs.
- Manage staff scheduling across campuses, in collaboration with office leaders in Advisement, including but not limited to daily work schedules and staff assignments of college-wide events, ensuring adequate coverage and participation from the Advisement team.
- Provide oversight to office workgroup(s) and track progress towards established goals.
- Provide regular updates to the Associate Dean of Advisement regarding key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Represent the Office of Advisement internally and externally as needed.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
- Monitor and analyze advisement activities through data-driven reports to assess performance against key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Work with the Senior Assistant Director (Data and Assessment) to collect and analyze student feedback on advisement services for continuous improvement.
- Manage the resolution of student complaints and escalations, ensuring prompt and effective responses in alignment with college policies.
- Participate in and support professional development initiatives, including collaborating with the Senior Assistant Director of Advising Training and Development on office-wide trainings.
- While not maintaining a formalized caseload, provide individual student support as needed.
- Liaise with the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Review Committee to support student success efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- Education : Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
- Experience : Minimum of four years in academic advisement or student services, with at least two years in a supervisory or leadership role of professional staff.
- Technology Skills : Proficiency in higher education software, including Microsoft Office suite, Airtable, EAB Navigate, and Ellucian Colleague.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills : Strong written and verbal communication, active listening, and relationship-building skills.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving : Ability to identify trends, use data to inform decision-making, and creatively solve challenges.
- Experience managing multi-campus advisement operations.
- Bilingual abilities in Spanish and/or Arabic.
