Hudson Montessori School is seeking a Director of Finance to join our school’s team.
The Director of Finance has responsibility and oversight of Hudson Montessori School’s financial management and planning. Along with all HMS employees, the Director of Finance’s role helps our school meet its mission: to foster a Montessori educational environment conducive to each child's unique qualities and abilities for the development of social, emotional, and reasoning skills that are essential for a lifetime of independent, creative thinking and learning in the world community.
The Director of Finance reports to the Head of School and will work with the employees and Board of Trustees. The hours per week for this position will be determined in consultation with the optimal candidate. At a minimum, the position will require 20 hours per week. Depending on interest and fit, there is a possibility to make this a full-time position.

Specifics about Job Opportunity
Financial Management Responsibilities:
1. Manage the school’s general ledger including processing of all invoices, posting of GL entries, bank reconciliations, account reconciliation and balancing, and preparation of monthly close statements.
2. Preparation of monthly financial statements and associated key financial metrics to Head of School and Board of Trustees.
3. Management of financial and accounting policies and systems.
4. Management of year-end audit engagement with external auditor.
Financial Planning Responsibilities:
1. Develop and oversight of HMS’s annual and long-range operating and capital budgets.
2. Financial analysis of HMS’s potential strategic initiatives and establishment of financial plans to actualize those opportunities.
Other Responsibilities:
1. HMS will soon move forward on a recently completed campus master plan. The Director of Finance will be an important part of the team working on this important school initiative.
Qualifications and Characteristics:
· Accounting knowledge/experience to meet the position’s financial management responsibilities.
· Accounting/financial acuity to lead the position’s financial planning tasks.
· Comfort with technology tools necessary to perform the job. Familiarity with Quick Books Online is preferred.
· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
· A desire to be part of a team that is focused on the school’s mission.
