What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Finance position at J&O Plastics?
The Director of Finance will be in charge of all areas of accounting and finance for a manufacturing plant and distribution warehouse including AR, AP, Inventory/Costing, Financial Reporting and Treasury.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Daily cash management and reporting and bank administration role
- Support preparation and/or posting of customer deposits; ensure follow-up on past due invoices from customers.
- Manage customer balances and credit hold positions, if necessary, to communicate with owner and shop floor of credit hold
- Manage supplier invoices from both purchase orders and receipts to manual entry of invoices to be paid. Ensure proper approvals for all non-purchase order invoices
- Prepare and process weekly supplier payments via ACH and check
- Month end close including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and financial reports (Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow)
- Support Human Resources with weekly payroll review and approval
- Preparation of quarterly bank compliance package and covenant calculations to ensure debt compliance
- Management of supplier logins for ordering shop supplies and production items to support business operations while reviewing and inquiring necessity of items being requested
- Calculation of commission accrual and payments to outside sales personnel
- Oversight and management of annual financial review by outside accounting firm, along with review and approval of financial statements.
- Preparation of tax payments for business and owner on annual and quarterly basis; provide updated forecasted financials to outside accounting firm to update tax estimates
- Prepare and file quarterly Ohio Commercial Activity Tax reports and payments
- Other projects as needed, i.e. budgets, financial reporting requests, annual insurance, lease administration
Skill and Experience:
- Proven experience in controller or director role overseeing all areas of finance and accounting
- Well versed in financial reporting and data analysis
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast paced environment
- Excellent business judgment, strong written and oral communication skills, and a practical, approach to getting things done
- High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
- Ability to process improve within a changing environment to ensure support in a scalable environment
- A strong sense of ownership over work and results
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance field required
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in progressive roles to understand general accounting and costing
- Experience with cross functional teams and ability to support the business operations
