Description

Position Purpose: The purpose of this role is to provide leadership and strategic direction to the clinical services team and to ensure that the health care staff have the essential resources to treat their patients.  This senior leadership role will collaborate closely with the Board, physicians, leaders and staff, to assure that the quality of the service and support provided to our patients is unparalleled.  The COO will provide day to day management of the clinical services directors, managers, and supervisors.

 

Essential Functions:

Strategic Direction

  • Work closely with the CEO and Board to determine the strategic priorities of Hudson Physicians.  Translate this into actionable work plans for the team. 
  • Serve on executive leadership team, committees, work groups, and other bodies as appropriate.
  • Plan, direct, control, implement, evaluate, monitor, clinical operations to achieve financial objectives.
  • Champion high standards and quality of patient care by implementing strategies and plans and advising medical personnel on clinical service matters.

People Leadership

  • Hire, train, coach, and manage the leadership team of clinical services. 
  • Work closely with providers to establish strong relationships and assign compatible teams. 
  • Recruit and retain a strong team of medical professionals.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for the leaders and providers regarding people management issues. 
  • Lead recognition and employee morale programs for the clinical services team. 
  • Provide teams and individuals with what they need to excel in their roles and resolving conflicts and issues
  • Hold leaders and providers accountable to support a positive work culture for everyone.
  • Project a positive image of the clinic to employees, patients, industry, and community.
  • Improve the efficiency of clinical staff and foster collaboration among physicians, nurses, and other care providers by minimizing their administrative burden.

Clinical Operations

  • Responsible for quality assurance in the clinic's service delivery including clinical care and documentation.
  • Ensure continuity of care in the provision of comprehensive services and patient experiences. 
  • Accountable for coordination of communication with all service components within the clinic.
  • Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the clinic's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Recommend changes to improve service delivery and revenue streams; implements changes and new programming to ensure patients receive the highest quality of proactive, patent centered care.
  • Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
  • Ensures work environments are adequate and safe.

Compliance

  • Keep track of standards and regulations to help ensure that the organization complies with all federal, state, and local laws and is up to date on accreditation policy and procedures.
  • Accountable to ensure that all staff members are trained and up to date on required certifications. 

Qualifications


Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in healthcare management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading people and teams, developing strategy, encouraging initiatives, motivating individuals, building a sense of common purpose, and empowering employees.
  • Proven experience and success with complex process improvement and project management. 
  • Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

 

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, nursing or broad health care knowledge and experience required. 
  • Extensive and diversified background with at least 10 years of related experience.
