Surgical Coordinator
Hudson Pro Health is a multi-specialty group headquartered in Secaucus, NJ. We are currently seeking a full-time Surgical Coordinator to join our team. The position will play a vital role in managing the day-to-day operations of our surgical department.
- Coordination of Tests, Procedures, and Surgeries: Under the guidance of the Practice Supervisor, Manager, and physician(s), you will ensure that all tests, procedures, and surgeries are scheduled efficiently and smoothly, adhering to facility protocols and physician needs.
- Scheduling and Equipment Management: You will promptly and professionally schedule surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment is ordered and available for surgery, while maintaining a high standard of service for patients.
- Patient Information Verification and Insurance Coordination: You will verify patient demographics, gather insurance information, contact insurance companies to confirm coverage and benefits, and secure precertification from the payer.
- Managing Physician Schedules: You will coordinate appointments with the physician's calendar, adjusting schedules as necessary. You will also communicate surgical preparation information to patients, ensuring they are well-prepared for their procedures.
- Cross-Department Coordination: In collaboration with other departments (such as labs or nuclear medicine), you will coordinate necessary testing, co-surgeons, and assistants, ensuring smooth operation across teams.
- Pre-Surgical Procedures and Documentation: You will ensure all pre-op procedures are completed, including obtaining signed consent forms, ensuring completed history and physicals, coordinating pre-admission testing, and obtaining medical clearances.
- Maintaining Block Time Guidelines: It will be your responsibility to monitor and maintain block time at each hospital, ensuring scheduling remains efficient.
- Postoperative Care Coordination: You will help arrange postoperative care under the direction of the provider and assist with the recovery process.
- Surgical Billing and Coding: You will collect surgical billing information from physicians, work with the coding department to ensure accurate coding, and reconcile surgical charges.
- Tracking and Communication: You will track the progress of all surgical cases, including completed and pending procedures, testing, and pathology results.
- Customer Service Excellence: Providing exceptional customer service is a key part of your role. You will engage with patients and visitors in a courteous, empathetic manner, responding to their needs both in person and over the phone.
- Collaboration and Flexibility: As part of the team, you will cooperate with others, take responsibility for your tasks, and adapt to the practice’s evolving needs. This may include working additional hours as needed.
- Cross-Coverage and Support: You may be called upon to assist in other areas of the Physician Services Division and participate in surgical service meetings .
Qualifications:
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tasks and environments
- Bi-lingual - Spanish speaking is required
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 2 years of experience in a medical office setting
- Familiarity with medical terminology and HIPAA regulations
- Knowledge of surgical coding (CPT and ICD-10) is preferred
- 2 years of Surgical coordinator
- Knowledge of eClinical Works EMR systems preferred.

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
