Description
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with Individualized Education Plans, in both the general education and special education environments;
- Establish positive, working relationships with teachers, special education providers, parents, and administrators through professional communication;
- Serve as primary contact for identified students on an assigned caseload on items relevant to a student’s special educations services and/or plans;
- Employ a variety of instructional methods relevant to students’ strengths and areas of needs, curriculum and environmental demands, and best practices;
- Employ a variety of behavioral strategies in support of students’ individual needs and/or Positive Behavior Support Plans;
- Develop plans for special education support staff and maintain frequent communication to ensure consistency in service;
- Collaboratively develop and implement compliant and timely Individualized Education Plans (IEP) with all members of students’ IEP teams;
- Facilitate IEP team meetings;
- Collect, maintain, analyze and actively respond to student progress data;
- Develop and flexibly adjust schedules for student support in accordance with student needs, classroom and building schedules, instructional demands, and IEP goals;
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by state/federal rules and regulations as well as district policy and practice;
- Create instructional and supportive environments that are conducive to learning;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- BA/BS degree from a college or university.
- Michigan Elementary Certificate with Special Education Endorsement
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the community, regulatory agencies or staff members.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and ledgers.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
