What are the responsibilities and job description for the Title 1 Reading or Math Interventionist Teacher (hourly) - Hughes ES (2024-2025) position at HUGHES ES?
Pay: $25 per hour/Days: Hourly basis
Primary Purpose:
Provide direct intervention to identified students who require additional instructional support in order to achieve grade level standards. Conduct diagnostic assessments, monitor student progress, and communicate outcomes to the classroom teachers and campus administration. Plan and facilitate professional development activities related to strategic teaching and other ELAR or math strategies during content area meetings, periodical professional learning community sessions, and at other designated times established by the administration.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
At least three years of successful classroom teaching in the core academic subject area assigned
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
1. Use data from standardized tests, classroom grades, and Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) to identify at-risk students in English, Language Arts, and Reading or Math.
2. Coordinate with campus principal a schedule to accommodate identified students in the program.
3. Work collaboratively with district curriculum designers to develop effective and student-focused lessons to support their classroom experience.
4. Attend training sessions and team leader meetings as the principal directs.
5. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills in the core academic subject area assigned.
6. Work closely with teachers to coordinate efforts of the intervention program with the regular classroom to promote student success.
7. Maintain required data on individual student progress and disseminate data to principal, teachers, and parents at interim report and report card periods.
8. Provide direct instruction to students identified as eligible for intervention services in individual and/or small group settings.
9. Use identified needs to guide the learning process toward student achievement of district’s ELAR or math content standards.
10. Compile reports as requested.
11. Use a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content standards and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
12. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
13. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
14. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
15. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
16. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
17. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
18. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
19. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
20. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formative assessments.
21. Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
22. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
23. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
24. Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
25. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
26. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
27. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
28. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
29. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
30. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
31. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
32. Perform other duties as assigned.
33. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
