Position Goal:

  • Responsible for overseeing effective daily operation of the clinic and any related satellite clinic operations of Hughston Clinic Orthopaedics (“HCO”).
  • Assist Physician(s) in each clinic by promoting education and training compliance in performance of daily duties to ensure a successful clinic.
  • Tracks and monitors training effectiveness on a continuous basis.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor Float staff and personnel.
  • Enter and approve PTO and timesheets.
  • Liaison for all complaints, internal and external, to include handling patient discrepancies as well as doctor complaints, and responding to all verbal and written complaints.
  • Coordinate with Director of Operations and Human Resources for any hiring or employee related needs. Assist in interviewing and selection procedures. Handle various personnel matters including forms and procedures as required.
  • Conduct annual evaluations and assessments.
  • Supervise Preceptor activities including coordinating Preceptor schedules with Office Managers and Clinic Leads as needed.
  • Assist in interviewing and selection procedures for Preceptors.
  • Develop training goals and objectives for clinic employees as assigned.
  • Create education material for employees; may include video training, competencies, written training material, etc.
  • Develop and conduct monthly clinical educational training for all clinic staff members.
  • Develop and oversee employee training program and position competencies.
  • Track and monitor on-going training and education for operational effectiveness. Reports any recommendations or adjustments that may enhance overall program to HCO leadership.
  • Educate and train clinic staff in accordance with clinical, governmental, and other regulatory standards (i.e.: OSHA, HIPAA, etc.) Monitor for on-going compliance.
  • Understand the needs of the physician for a productive clinic, assess clinical flow and staffing patterns, and recommend changes to HCO leadership.
  • Assist with the implementation of new clinic locations.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new physicians/providers.
  • Responsible for understanding the workflow of the Practice Management & EMR System.
  • Identify and define PM/EMR system issues by working closely with the clinic staff to gather details and evaluate issues effectively.
  • Act as a resource for administrative, clinical staff and providers, including new employees.
  • Serve as back up for Director of Operations, and Office leaders at each clinic when needed.
  • Provide oversight of Athena error queue to pinpoint training needs/targets.
  • Meet with HCO leadership at least quarterly to review operational issues and discuss strategic plans.
  • Recommend departmental policies and procedures. Update and maintain nursing procedures with in-services or other forms of continuing education.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations to include attending conferences and workshops.
  • Maintain patient and staff confidentiality.
  • Perform related work as required; attend assigned meetings, etc.
  • Utilize effective communication skills (written and verbal) interacting with co-workers, other clinic employees, supervisors, and outside vendors.
  • Promote Hughston’s role in the community by greeting and interacting with all patients, families, visitors, vendors, and guests in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Provide support or relief for other staff as needed.
  • Demonstrate confidentiality in all aspects to include both patient and non-patient issues.
  • Reflect Hughston values and is sensitive to Hughston’s ethical and compliance principles in his/her daily activities.
  • Promote resolution of concerns and conflict by routing through correct mechanism or resolving the situation.
  • Able to prioritize daily functions/tasks
  • Display a willingness to put forth effort in problem solving
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience:

Required:

  • Five years medical/clinical experience or
  • 1 year with Bachelor degree in health-related field.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in health-related field preferred.
Special Qualifications:

Required:

  • Ability to work independently and multi-task.
  • Ability to demonstrate good professional judgement in performance of daily duties.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good working knowledge of training and compliance, technical principles of medical clinic.
  • Position requires irregular work hours and availability for after-hour calls to manage situations as needed.
  • Travel is required.
  • Current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must be in good standing; Must have valid driver’s license in good standing.
