Job Title: Slitter Operator Department: Slitting Job Location: Los Angeles, CA Reports to: Forming Supervisor Pay Grade: Hourly Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Revision Date: 7/10/2023 Shift: 1st Pay Range: $19.75-$23.17 Job Summary Operates web slitting machines meeting or exceeding safety standards, production schedule requirements and customer specification requirements. Essential Functions Work safely always following Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), safe work practice policies and procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Makes necessary adjustments to machine controls to maintain high quality standards. Adjust knife assemblies as required by job specifications. Use of measuring device(s) for proper slit width verification. Changes slitting knives when required. Set-ups and change over machine as required. Operates equipment with minimal to no supervision. Maintains and performs daily/weekly/annual clean up to meet SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards. Replenishes and loads material as required (i.e. wax, raw board, printed material). Verify proper material is being used. Meets standards set for equipment. Records production/downtime data accurately in PI and BPCS system. Continuously monitors the quality of the product being produced. Completes cold start up and shut down procedures, start and stop the machine and clear jams without assistance. Troubleshoots minor machine malfunctions, call for maintenance when needed. Uses various hand tools. Rejects poor quality material by filling out proper rejection forms for QA. Follows mixed copy procedures. Participates in Lean Events as scheduled. Uses equipment to move product i.e (Big Joe, pallet jack, Aluma-A Lift, hoist) Job Qualifications Required Must have a minimum of 6 months of experience in the operation of industrial machinery (experience performing adjustments and repairs in a production environment). Possess mechanical aptitude abilities. Understand and be able to read product specifications and make changes as necessary. Ability to read/write in English; capable of acting to written or verbal instruction. Basic understanding of math concept to complete production reporting requirements. Must possess basic computer skills for use of systems: BPCS, TWI, Pi, FileMaker software. Must have good communication, problem solving and decision-making skills. Knowledge of small hand tools and how to use them correctly. Prior training and current understanding of Lockout Tag out concepts. Must be able to understand the readings in a tape measure. Must be able to work overtime as required by production demands. Must be able to identify slight color variations. Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs. to shoulder height. Must be able to push and turn jumbo paper rolls weighing up to 1000lbs frequently with the use of roll rotating device. Must be able to push full carts of waste material weighing up to 1200lbs to the balers. Must be able to climb ladder when required. Must be able to bend and stoop frequently. Must be able to stand and walk 100% of working time. Able to use equipment for movement of product: Big Joe, pallet jack, hoist. Preferred High School Diploma or GED preferred. Environment Will spend 100% of time on manufacturing floor with moderate noise levels which will require the use of personal protective equipment including (but not limited to) hearing protection, safety glasses and steel toe shoes.
