Leads the engineering operations of a medium-scale site or multiple standard-scale sites. Manages engineering projects and integration of technical activities, specifications and procedures. Analyzes technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of engineering requirements.
Job Summary
Envision, develop, and implement solutions to equipment deficiencies to improve asset safety, reliability, output and improve human factor criteria. Provide engineered solutions to steam distribution and condensate recovery using internal or external resources. Use asset historical data to justify change for direct or indirect productivity improvement resulting in reduced cost of operation. Support Waterville’s manufacturing site in a variety of technical assignments to create innovative solutions to technological problems.
Essential Functions
Provide input and analysis for asset upgrades. Experience with steam distribution and condensate recovery. Knowledge of heat transfer principles and drying systems. Provide daily technical support and troubleshooting to Waterville’s operations. Work with other Huhtamaki locations to develop and implement Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP). Develop, initiate, and manage all phases of capital and expense projects insuring safe implementation, scope delivery within budgeted time and financial project control. Provide technological process improvements and cost savings for Waterville’s Manufacturing Operations.
Minimum Requirements
The following are required to enable job holders to perform the essential functions of the job.
BSME or BSMET degree preferred. Will consider BS in related discipline with in-depth related experience. 10 years engineering experience in manufacturing environment. Knowledge of regulatory requirement defined by OSHA, NFPA, ANSI and other local, state and federal agencies. Knowledge of fluid design concepts, thermodynamics, and precision alignment concepts. Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
In-depth knowledge and experience in a pulp and paper environment is preferred. Working knowledge of 6-Sigma strategies including lean events, strategic data analysis, removing non-value-added processes, etc. Experience with Rockwell PLC control systems including troubleshooting and programming. Experience with high-speed conveying, conveyor metering and sortation systems. Modeling and analysis of thermodynamic systems for power generation, waste heat recovery, and system balancing. Creative thinker and innovator. Very strong mechanical aptitude.
