What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flat Rock Camp Food Service Assistant position at Human Resouces Department?
General Function
Under the direction of the Food Service Manager, this position will be responsible for performing a variety of food preparation and dishwashing duties.
Know How
Candidate must be at least 16 years old. Experience in food preparation or service and dishwashing is preferred. Ability to attend mandatory YMCA trainings such as New Employee Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention and Safety & Risk Management within 60-90 days of employment and other training required for position.
Principle Responsibilities
Observe safety guidelines according to YMCA, OSHA and Board of health standards as it relates to food preparation and service.
Work with kitchen staff to provide meals/food service to Flat Rock River YMCA Camp groups and guests.
Assist with preparation and cooking of a variety of foods according to directions and instructions.
Clean and inspect kitchen appliances, equipment and work areas to ensure cleanliness, safety and functional operation.
Clean and maintain work storage areas, equipment and utensils according to guidelines, which includes dish washing, mopping floors.
Remove trash and clean garbage containers.
Inform supervisor when supplies are getting low or equipment is not working properly.
Assists with carrying food supplies and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
Assists in storing food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
Assists with stocking cupboards and refrigerators, recycle items and tend to salad bars.
May be asked to assist with simple housekeeping/maintenance/grounds tasks including but not limited to cleaning cabins, floors, windows, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, setting up rooms/arranging furniture and removing trash.
The daily duties also include and are not limited to keeping the building in a clean and orderly condition.
Other duties as assigned.
