What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping/Procurement Specialist position at Human Resource Staffing?
One of our clients in the Springfield Area is looking for a Shipping/Procurement Specialist.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process outbound shipments; create and maintain Bills of Lading (BOL’s) and all associated documents
- Accurately prepare and make expedited shipments in accordance with customer requirements
- Work closely with 3rd party logistics providers to initiate and track the logistics of planned material movements
- Ensure Advance Ship Notices (ASN’s) are correct and entered within the compliance window
- Monitor loading of all shipments onto their respective carriers
- Respond to “Proof of Delivery” (POD) inquiries with respect to past shipments
- Monitor PC Portal and DRIVe tickets, while coordinating with production to respond appropriately
- Monitor and update SSD promise dates in the customer portal to ensure delivery compliance
- Responsible for verification of incoming materials
- Provide, and maintain, records of all required labels for production shipments
- Use customer portal (CITS) to maintain consignment inventory and submit weekly inventory reports
- Manage the purchasing process including raw materials, core for production, office supplies, project supplies, and all other productive and non-productive materials
- Monitor inventory triggers for materials to ensure that organizational procurement targets are met
- Execute timely, accurate purchase orders as needed to meet supply and cost targets, maximizing logistics efficiency yet minimizing inventory burden
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders (internal and external) to monitor orders, expediting/tracking as necessary, and ensure customer expectations are met
- Analyze existing purchasing processes and suppliers for on-time delivery, performance, and accuracy
- Suggest improvements to existing purchasing processes and delivery systems
- Review and provide quotations for new project proposals
- Conduct contract negotiations with vendors and suppliers, while maintaining a good rapport
- Identify optimal suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and customer requirements
- Maintain visitor log and answer inbound phone calls
- Operate manual and/or powered material handling equipment, as required
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and safety standards, including the Quality and Environmental standards
- All other duties as requested
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1-2 years data entry experience
- Minimum of 2-4 years purchasing experience
- Strong knowledge of supply chain management
- Proficient computer skills especially with Microsoft Office; Excel, Access, and Outlook
- Knowledge of inventory control and manufacturing processes
- Positive and professional demeanor
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to be cross-trained and adapt to new tasks
- Ability to work under pressure and plan workload effectively
- Ability to work in an environment with possible exposure to temperature variances, noise, dust and fumes
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 75 lbs.
Preferred Skills:
- Typing & 10 key proficiency
- Forklift Experience
- Familiar with quality management systems

90 day temp to hire position.
Pay $16-$18/hr DOE
