Join our Community Veterinary Clinic and help provide high-quality, affordable care for pets in need. As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll support our team by monitoring animal health, assisting with treatments, and ensuring smooth surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Level 1 (Entry-Level):
- Assist with pre- and post-surgery care and maintain disease control protocols.
- Keep exam and surgery areas clean, stocked, and organized.
- Handle and restrain animals for exams, treatments, and anesthesia.
- Maintain medical records and enter data into our clinic database.
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with exams, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Educate clients on pet care, medications, and post-surgical instructions.
- Train staff on basic technical skills and sanitation procedures.
- Train staff and volunteers on disease control, clinic protocols, and client education.
- Assist with lab work, radiology, and filling prescriptions.
- Provide guidance and resources to pet owners about veterinary care and wellness.
- Work independently to solve problems and make care-related decisions.
- Perform dental procedures and CPR.
- Become a Registered Medication Clerk.
- Assist in humane euthanasia with proper training.
- Experience monitoring anesthesia and assisting in surgery.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
- Compassionate communication with pet owners, staff, and volunteers.
- Attention to detail in record-keeping and inventory management.
- Work in a community veterinary clinic serving a diverse range of clients and pets.
- Exposure to animals, noise, cleaning chemicals, and potential zoonotic diseases.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and restraining animals.
