Do you have a passion for animal welfare and a knack for organization and relationship building? Join the Humane Society of Central Oregon (HSCO) as our Development Coordinator and play a vital role in advancing our mission to advocate for and compassionately care for animals.

In this position, you will be at the heart of HSCO's fundraising operations, managing the donor database, coordinating fundraising campaigns, and cultivating meaningful relationships with donors. You’ll also help share the stories of animals whose lives have been transformed through community support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Donor Database and Gift Management (30%)

  • Act as primary administrator of Bloomerang donor database ensuring data integrity and best practices
  • Process all gifts and pledges accurately and generate acknowledgments within 48 hours
  • Lead monthly reconciliation with Finance team and maintain audit-ready records
  • Implement database maintenance and enhancement projects

Donor Relations, Communications, and Stewardship (30%)

  • Develop and implement personalized donor recognition strategies
  • Manage monthly giving program communications and retention
  • Plan and execute community-building events, engaging with donors and the public
  • Track and report on donor engagement metrics to support moves management
  • Ensure actions are captured in donor database

Fundraising Operations (30%)

  • Coordinate direct mail campaigns from data selection through vendor management
  • Conduct prospect research and prepare profiles to support cultivation and solicitation efforts
  • Maintain calendar of all fundraising and outreach activities
  • Support event planning and execution, including sponsor recognition
  • Assist with grant application and reporting processes

Team Support (10%)

  • Manage department communications, including donor inquiries and shared email inboxes
  • Create content for donor newsletters and digital platforms
  • Participate in cross-departmental projects

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Proficiency in donor database systems (experience with Bloomerang strongly preferred).
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organization skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Superb attention to detail with the ability to manage complex data accurately and confidentially.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to engage with the public; including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Computer literacy required. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) and familiarity with email marketing platforms and website content management systems.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of donor-centric fundraising principles and best practices
  • Background in nonprofit fundraising or operations
  • Basic graphic design or social media management experience is a plus

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or higher preferred, but all applicants with the experience, training, and education required to succeed in the role will be considered.
  • 3 years of professional work experience, including 1 year of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or administrative support in a professional setting.
  • Past experience and knowledge of donor CRM databases.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time, exempt position that offers a remote flexible work setting. We estimate that the incumbent will be able to accomplish approximately 20% of job duties remotely. It is expected that the majority of work time will be spent in office and in-person attendance of regular meetings and events will be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $28.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
