Job Description
The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina is looking for a professional, compassionate individual willing to work hard! Animal Care Technicians are the life-blood of our organization. They take care of both cats and dogs, clean runs and kennels, administer medications (after training), and also facilitate adoptions! Candidates must be willing to maintain a clean and safe work environment, be a hard worker, and be professional.
We are a small, close-knit group of individuals who work hard in often unforgiving conditions to ensure the health and safety of our animals.
Candidates must be:
- 18 years of age or older
- Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Able to lift more than 50 pounds
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Work in heat or cold
- Have a flexible schedule (some student schedules can be worked with, but MUST have weekend availability)
- Able to work in a group and independently
- Have good interpersonal skills
- MUST be comfortable working with jumpy/mouthy dogs.
- MUST be willing to learn how to train dogs.
Pay starts at $8.50/hour.
Shifts range from 7 am to around 6:00 pm, with a significant break in between shifts on the weekdays. Must have open or extremely flexible availability.
