Position Title: Donor Engagement Manager
Hours: Full Time, Weekends and Evenings occasionally required, Hybrid, Mostly Remote

SUMMARY
The Donor Engagement Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing the growth and sustainability of HSHV’s leadership giving program.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The ideal candidate will be a motivated team player with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, a passion for animal welfare, and a commitment to providing an exceptional donor experience. They should excel at multitasking, have prior experience working with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and possess at least three years of proven fundraising experience. This individual will be detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and skilled at building meaningful relationships with donors. A proactive attitude, creative problem solving abilities, and the ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively are essential.
An animal care facility can be an emotionally challenging, high-stress, rapidly changing, and high-demand environment. Feelings of grief and loss, secondary trauma, and compassion fatigue are not uncommon. As such, working in a management/leadership role at HSHV requires a high emotional IQ including adaptability, flexibility, and tolerance for calculated risk, ambiguity, and change; self-awareness; empathy for animals and people; perspective taking; assertive communication and conflict resolution skills; stress management skills, emotional regulation and resilience; and an overall positive outlook.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Tasks/Duties
- Conduct prospect research for leadership giving across individuals, corporations, and foundations to grow the donor pipeline
- Execute a coordinated donor engagement strategy for prospective and current donors
- Organize donor engagement events for special HSHV fundraising programs and campaigns
- Monitor leadership giving metrics including donor capacity, behaviors, major gift trends, and growth opportunities
- Manage donor recognition program for leadership giving circles and special campaigns; coordinate reminders, renewals, and upgrades
- Working with Marketing Technologist, develop and manage automated workflows to enhance donor engagement and ensure consistent follow-up
- Assist in creating leadership giving assets, such as proposals, presentations, and print materials
- Help recruit and manage the Friends of HSHV fundraising group and assist in the management of the capital campaign committee
- Coordinate planned giving seminars in partnership with estate planning professionals.
- Respond to planned gift inquiries, oversee accurate entry of planned gifts and ensure timely follow-up; actively participate in FreeWill partnership
- Assist with grant writing and management, as needed
- Manage leadership giving SOPs, ensuring accurate and thorough policies and procedures, in accordance with HSHV’s process and SOP system.

- Be a model of great customer service – assisting the public and answering questions courteously, accurately, and professionally
- Attend staff meetings, HSHV signature events, and others as needed
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing this job, you will be frequently seated at a desk in front of a computer. You will be required to use your hands and arms to operate office equipment continually, and occasionally, you may need to stoop, bend, or reach for materials necessary for your job. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift to 20 lbs during the production of special events and to create visual displays. You will continually be using your vision and must have visual and color acuity. You will also frequently hear and talk in the course of your work. Though you will mainly be in an office setting with moderate noise levels, you will be exposed to kennel/shelter setting as well. You will be exposed to disinfectant solutions used in cleaning. You will be consistently exposed to animals and animal allergens. You may also be subject to potential danger, including parasites and infectious diseases, animal bites and scratches.
