The Humane Society of Summit County is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) retail assistant manager for Happy Tails Thrift Shop in Akron, Ohio. This candidate will assist the store manager in retail strategies to drive business and meet goals. This means assisting in all daily operations of the shop, including customer service, processing donations, general clean up, managing staff, and opening/closing operations of the shop. This position works closely with the store manager to ensure staff and volunteers are set up for success each day with clear expectations. This includes supporting the store manager with performance management activities, including feedback and continuous check-ins with staff and volunteers.
The assistant manager will motivate and inspire staff and volunteers to ensure a dynamic and flexible team environment. This involves stepping into multiple positions throughout the day to support business needs. This role occasionally requires outdoor work, in all weather conditions, to help process donations for the shop and oversee productivity in the donation work space.
This candidate will coordinate product displays and merchandise fixtures throughout the shop with the help of staff and volunteers. This is a duty that requires light lifting up to 20 pounds, and may include the use of a step ladder at times.
