Job Description
Dependent upon qualifications, the Chief Administrative Nurse is responsible for:
- Providing a variety of nursing services to students and staff.
- Overseeing the functions of the Health Offices and the duties of the Health Assistants.
- Serving as a consultant to administrators, teachers, parents, students and community health agencies.
- Implementing and executing health service programs in the schools.
Exemplary Duties and Responsibilities (Dependent upon qualifications)
- Physical assessment of pupils to include vision and hearing screening, dental inspections, nutrition and other health problems.
- Notify and counsel with parents/guardians of students with health concerns.
- Monitor student immunization and notify parents about state immunization requirements.
- Assist in conducting health instruction within schools.
- Provide emergency care for students injured at school.
- Counsel students about health concerns and problems.
- Insure that health records are maintained in a current status.
- Inventory and maintain medical supplies and equipment in the schools.
- Conduct health assessments for special education and Early Childhood.
- Coordinate activities with the Public Health Nurse.
- Staff and student immunizations.
Employment Standards
Education: Bachelors degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university preferred.
Experience: Experience in public health, school health, pediatric or emergency nursing is preferred.
License/Certificates: Possession of a license issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing to practice as a registered nurse and a Nevada Department of Education School Nurse License.
