Job Summary
The CNC Mill Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling machines to produce precision parts and components according to specifications. The operator will set up, program, and run CNC machines while ensuring high-quality production, safety standards, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup & Operation
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines, ensuring proper alignment, calibration, and tool installation.
- Load materials (metal, plastic, etc.) into machines and ensure they are secured correctly.
- Follow blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to input correct settings and machine instructions.
- Operate the CNC machine to perform milling, drilling, tapping, and other machining processes as required by work orders.
- Programming & Adjustment
- Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs as needed for the production of parts.
- Adjust machine settings such as feed rate, tool offsets, spindle speeds, and cutting depths to meet specifications.
- Troubleshoot and make necessary adjustments to machine programs to improve efficiency or correct defects.
- Quality Control
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.) to ensure parts meet required tolerances.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy, ensuring that parts are produced according to specifications.
- Identify defects and report issues, suggesting improvements for process optimization.
- Maintenance & Housekeeping
- Perform routine maintenance on machines, including cleaning, oiling, and checking machine components for wear.
- Report any machine malfunctions or required repairs to the maintenance department.
- Keep the work area clean and organized, following company safety protocols and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Document production data, such as work orders, machine settings, production times, and materials used.
- Report production status, machine performance, and issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of part quality and any adjustments made during production.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining or CNC operation preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of [X] years of experience operating CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with programming or modifying G-code is a plus.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software is an advantage.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of CNC machine operation and controls.
- Proficient with measuring tools and quality control practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) when needed.
- Must be able to handle and maneuver tools and materials with precision.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a factory setting, with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and other environmental factors.
- Adherence to all safety protocols and usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
